We are successfully connecting to our SAP HANA database but only see a few tables/views (see below) . A commonly-used table such as VBAK (sales order header) does not appear. I've checked with our SAP BASIS team - they cannot find any documentation or guidance on SAP's website on how to setup the SAP-side user, security-wise. Does anyone know of any links to documentation that can be used as a guide?
Thanks in advance!

@Anonymous,
Are you also able to view the VBAK table when you connect to SAP HANA in Excel? There is no official articles stating the permissions required to view table structure in Power BI.

Lydia
@Anonymous,
I am not very clear about your requirement. Have you checked if the account you use to connect to the database has sufficient permission on the VBAK table? And are you able to view VBAK table when using other applications such as Excel or SAP Hana client to connect to the database?
Regards,
Lydia
Hello Lydia,
Thanks for the quick reply!. I'm not an SAP HANA security expert so I was suspecting I'd probably need to clarify. And our SAP BASIS team is fairly new to the HANA security thing so we're kinda the blind leading the blind. 🙂
I'm able to connect to the HANA server successfully and am able to execute a simple SQL query successfully via Advanced options in the server dialog. However, when I actually go to the Navigator (Import OR DirectQuery), only certain table/field structures appear but do not include, for example, VBAK. So I'm looking for guidance or link to documentation as to how that SAP user's permissions should be configured to enable viewing the structure. And yes, we are able to view the table via SE11 using SAP.

@Anonymous Thanks again, Lydia. I'll lean on our BASIS team and SAP for further guidance.
Hi @Anonymous,
Did you resolve it? I'm having the same problem, I already create a HANA role giving access to my hana schema (all S4 system tables) and select privilege and I only see few tables/views like you in Power BI.
Regards.
