Hello everyone,
I have installed and configured the ODBC to establish the connection with Datasphere, and the connection test was successful. However, when I try to create the connection from Power BI (Get Data > ODBC > selecting the created ODBC connection), the connection consistently fails.
Here is the error message displayed by Power BI:
ODBC: ERROR [08S01] [SAP AG][LIBODBCHDB DLL][HDBODBC] Communication link failure; -10709 Connect failed (connect timeout expired) (8593f103-08d1-44a2-bf4e-6dce12574c0d.hana.prod-us10.hanacloud.ondemand.com:443).
please can anyone help me to solve this problem

Hi @yasmine_bani,
Thank you for providing the details. The error message (Communication link failure; -10709 Connect failed) typically means that the connection from Power BI to the SAP Datasphere SQL endpoint is being blocked before reaching the server.
While the ODBC test passes, Power BI may connect differently and be affected by network rules or IP allowlisting. Please check that your client IP is on the SAP Datasphere IP Allowlist.
If you’re in a corporate setting, verify with your network team that outbound traffic on port 443 to *.hanacloud.ondemand.com is allowed, as firewalls or proxies can cause timeouts. You could also try connecting via a mobile hotspot; if successful, it suggests the corporate firewall or proxy is blocking access.
Consider testing the native SAP HANA connector in Power BI for better stability and performance, and make sure you have the latest SAP HANA Client installed, since outdated drivers may have TLS handshake issues.
Thank you.
