I am a business user and trying to connect to SAP using the SAP BW connector - However, my IT team tells me that I cannot connect to SAP using a regular "user account" and will need to use the admin account or a privilege account which exposes all the tables - Hence concerns about limiting data access.
Is there a way to use PowerBI, without having access to the admin account ?
Hi @ceebu,
In this official article, it doesn’t mention that we need to use SAP BW admin account to connect to SAP.
And as described in this blog, just make sure that Your Basis Administrator has disabled the Single Sign On option for your user account and enabled the Logon using Username/Password option. When you use the user account to connect to SAP BW in Power BI Desktop, all Cubes you have permission on will be exposed.
Thanks,
Lydia Zhang
