Hello,
I'll explain my setup. My first column is called 'Month / Year' (a date column). My second column is called 'Operating Area' (a text column) and my third column is called 'Hours' (a number column).
I need to create a column that provides a rolling year-to-date sum of 'Hours' for each 'Operating Area'

I guess I found a solution using DAX outside of Power Query that works well. Thank you for your time.
Hours YTD =
TOTALYTD(
SUM('Hours Combined'[Hours]),
'Hours Combined'[Month / Year],
ALLEXCEPT('Hours Combined','Hours Combined'[Operating Area])
)
