Request for Box Connector Support in Power BI / Microsoft Fabric

Currently, Power BI offers strong integration with Microsoft cloud storage services such as OneDrive and SharePoint. However, there is no native connector available for Box, which creates a barrier for users and organizations that rely on Box for their daily operations.

Box is a widely adopted cloud storage platform, especially valued for its security and compliance features. It is commonly used in industries such as finance, healthcare, and education. Adding a native Box connector to Power BI would bring several benefits:

  • Direct access to files stored in Box (e.g., Excel, CSV) from Power BI
  • Automated data refresh and improved workflow efficiency
  • Seamless integration with Microsoft Fabric for more flexible data analytics infrastructure

Box provides a well-documented API, so technical implementation should be feasible. I would greatly appreciate it if the Power BI team could consider adding support for Box as a data source.

The only current workaround is to use Power Query's Web.Contents function with the Box API to build a custom connector. This requires technical expertise to implement and maintain.

Thank you for the explanation. I understand the workaround using Web.Contents and the Box API, but since it requires technical expertise, I feel it’s quite challenging for general users. I hope for official support, so I will repost this in Fabric Ideas.
