Recalculating Custom Collumn for new rows

Hi Team,

On a table, I have created a custom column that parses an existing column to get a part of the existing text.

I have now appended more rows to this table and want the same column to parse for the newly added rows.

What is the best way to do this?

Thank you in advance.

  • Hi GMethnitis ,

In Power BI Desktop, you need to refresh preview in Power Query to update the preview window, or refresh the report to update the data model. Both refresh buttons are on the Home tab of their respective windows.

In the Power BI Service you will need to refresh the report dataset.

    Hi GMethnitis ,

If everything is OK, just drag your step of your custom column to the latest from the applied steps

Applied steps - Power Query | Microsoft Learn.
