Hi there,
We have had issues with opening csv files to excel since June. Before June we could open our csv/powerBI without problems directly in excel. This gave the users the opportunity to see their quantity and currency data with the local settings as it was in the report.
This also meant that if our customers had a comma in their name, so would the file show wrong.
Can we get a feature where we can get the export in csv, xls or json file?
Right now, we only get to save the file as CSV
Thanks in advance
Martha
The CSV generated by Power BI desktop are well formatted but using UTF 8 and the coma character as a seperator.
If you are facing the issue that opening the file directly in Excel is not producing the expected result it because of the List separator setting on your computer.
Very often it's set to semi-colon: ;
Change it to comma: , you will be able to open the CSV files again directly in Excel.
To change the setting go to: Control Panel / Region and Langiuage / Advanced Setting / List Separator
The extended character issue is another story...
Hi @TheMartha,
It is a known issue that we are only able to save the file as CSV when exporting data, regarding to this issue, please vote it in the following existing idea.
