Power query editor does not display tables
Hi ,
I took over a report from another user, which is in "Connected live to PowerBI dataset" mode. When I select transform data I got this following prompt and I selected "Add a local model"
Once I did this I am not able to see the table data or in the Queries pane
Can you please guide on what I am doing wrong here?

When you add a local model to your report, it's still in the Direct Query mode, which is not in the Power Query editor.
Don't think it's available to switch from live connection to import mode currently.

Hi balajisank ,
you are not doing anything wrong.
If the report is connected to the power bi dataset, you cannot change anything on the dataset unless you access the dataset itself.

Sorry for the noob question, how can get access and see the tables in the dataset? Will taking over the report give me access to the dataset?

Sooo.. it depends.
if you want to only see the tables and the data, you can convert your connection from live connection to direct query mode.
But if you want to change some data from the dataset itself, you either access the dataset itself or you do a workaround like creating calculated columns, etc.
