Hwy there!
Here are some possible causes:
- Power BI is not detecting an active refresh.
- The refresh is stuck due to a slow or large dataset.
- The query contains complex transformations that prevent cancellation.
Try stopping the refresh manually: Go to Power Query Editor.
- Click on File → Close & Discard.
- If Power BI asks you to confirm, click "Yes".
- Reopen Power BI and try applying changes again.
If Power BI is completely stuck, force stop the application:
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- Find "Microsoft Power BI Desktop".
- Right-click → End Task.
- Restart Power BI and try again.
Disable Background Data Loading
- Go to File → Options & Settings → Options.
- Under Global → Data Load, disable: "Allow data preview to download in the background."
- Click OK, restart Power BI, and try refreshing again.
Check for Stuck Queries, Open Power Query Editor.
- Check if a query is stuck on "Loading".
- If a query is frozen, delete that query and retry.
Hopefully one of these solutions helps you!

Hi !
Thank you for replying, I tried it all but doesn't work for me. I think that I'm using heavy querries as Omid_Motamedise said.
I'll try to optimise it and will let you know.
Thank you !

Hello,
I've tried the solution provided by Omid_Motamedise , but it didn't work.
I can't stop the refresh even if it's a very simple and small query.
So I still have the issue... :s
