Power BI still trying to logon with old university account.

I am trying to logon to my work account though the Power BI app on my iPad (IOS). When I try to logon however the app is picking up my university logon as well as my work logon. Work logon has been set to not work in the event there is another buisness/education work account.

I have disassociated the education account from my personal email logons (the account itself was closed many years ago by the university). I have removed the education account from Microsoft Authenticator and it is not present in the IOS account. However the education account is still appearing in Power BI App.

Hi @BenUK,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Forum Community.

I understand you're attempting to log into the Power BI app on your iPad using your work account, but it is still recognizing your old university account, which is blocking access. Since you have already removed the university account from both Microsoft Authenticator and iOS settings, it appears the account may still be cached within the Power BI app or linked to your Microsoft sign-in settings.

  • Uninstall the Power BI app, restart your iPad, then reinstall it from the App Store. Open the app and sign in only with your work account.
  • Please check if the old university account is stored there. If it is, remove it.Also, clear Safari's stored data.
  • If your iPad was previously managed by your university or another organization, there might be a profile linked to the university enforcing sign-ins. Check for such profiles, and if you find one from your university, it may need to be removed to fix the issue.
  • Uninstall the Microsoft Authenticator app, restart your Ipad, and reinstall the application. Ensure only the work account is present.

Thank you.

HHI sorry for the delay. I have tried£ all of the above including reinstalling Authenticator. Other apps such as word and excel work however power bi is the only one that is picking up an old university account. Above has not resolved the issue.

Hi @BenUK,

Thank you for the update, and I’m sorry to hear that the issue persists. Since the previous steps didn’t resolve the problem, I recommend trying the following additional troubleshooting methods:

  • Sometimes, old account credentials stored in the iOS Keychain can cause login issues. To remove them, go to Settings → Passwords, search for any entries related to Microsoft or Power BI, and delete any saved credentials associated with your university account.
  • To ensure there are no lingering account associations, please visit Microsoft Account Management . Navigate to Manage Account → Devices to review and remove any unnecessary devices. Then, go to Organizations and check if the university account is listed. If it is, select Leave Organization to remove it.
  • Network-level caching can occasionally cause persistent login problems. To troubleshoot, try connecting to a different Wi-Fi or cellular network. Additionally, attempt logging in using the Power BI app on another device to determine if the issue is specific to your iPad.
  • If the issue continues, try reinstalling the Power BI app thoroughly. Start by uninstalling the app, then navigate to Settings → General → iPad Storage, find Power BI, and make sure no leftover data is present. Restart your iPad and reinstall the app from the App Store.

If the issue continues after following these steps, I suggest reaching out to Microsoft Support for further help. They can conduct a more thorough investigation.
