Power BI Personal Gateway scheduler not triggering

We have set up a Power BI Personal Gateway to refresh a Power BI dataset from an on premise SQL Server Database.  Connectivity between the Personnal Gateway and Power BI is ok, between Gateway and database too.
'Manual' refresh triggered from the Power BI dataset work, but scheduled refresh do not excute (or fail), there are ho history entries for the 'scheduled' event, the 'next scheduled' event info is stuck in the past...

Any hints?

    Hi,

There is an ongoing issue in the service resulting in schedules not running at the scheduled time. We are working on the fix and it'll be fixed soon. Refresh now continues to work.

    Thanks,

    Mini

Here are a few things you can check — this issue is very common with Personal Gateways:

    1. Personal Gateway has limited support for scheduled refresh.

If possible, switch to the On-premises Data Gateway (Standard mode) — this usually fixes the issue.

    2. Ensure the gateway machine is always on and the gateway service is running.

Personal gateway stops working if the PC is off or the user is logged out.

    3. Check Dataset → Settings → Data Source Credentials.

If credentials need re-authentication, scheduled refresh won’t start and won’t appear in history.

    4. Go to Scheduled Refresh settings and confirm:

Keep your data up to date = ON

    Sometimes it turns off silently.

    5. Verify you have Power BI Pro or workspace in Premium capacity, otherwise scheduled

    refresh won’t run.
