Power BI Export to Excel - Pivot table value not working after saving
Hello!
I'm experiencing a weird error while exporting from Power BI to Excel. We have a pretty simple dataset that has names, categories, and a calculated total hours field as a number (along with others, not relevant). When I export the file to Excel for web, I want to make a simple pivot table with names as rows, categories as columns and total hours as the values. I export the dataset to Excel, and can make the pivot table exactly as I described. However, after saving and opening the file again all the values (Calculated Hours field) are gone. When trying to add the calculated hours field back into the values section of my pivot table, I get the error "The field you are moving cannot be placed in that area of the report". Any ideas?
I've tried:
Asking ChatGPT and Bing Chat
Recreating the dashboard
Copying the dashboard into another workspace
Connecting straight to the power BI report from Excel
Connecting straight to the Power BI dataset from Excel
Exporting the dataset from Power BI
Exporting the report from Power BI
Creating a new calculation
Using a different table for the same info
Creating a calculation from that different table
I asked my coworker about the issue and he said he was getting the same exact error while trying the same exact thing as me. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Dillon

Analyze in Excel cannot work with implicit measures. It requires you to create explicit measures.
