Power BI Datasets missing in Excel

Hi all,

I'm trying to connect an Excel file to a Power BI dataset.

I managed to do that in the past.

However, when I try it, there are only 6 datasets accessible via Excel even though there are way more in the Power BI service.

Unfortunately, the one I want to connect is one of those missing.

Live connection is Enabled in the Tennant settings in the Admin portal.

Why aren't all the datasets listed in the Excel file?

Any advice?

    Hi Anonymous

If you cannot find a dataset (semantic model) from Excel, try visiting Power BI Service with your account and use Analyze in Excel feature to live connect to the same dataset. This can be an alternative very often. Ensure that you still have Build permission to the Power BI semantic model or have at least a Contributor role in the Power BI workspace containing your semantic model.
