@arvindyadav,

Please do not delete  the existing file.  Drag the new file with same name to OneDrive and choose "Replace" to overwrite the old file, this way, refresh can take place.

When you delete the existing file and upload new file, the connection to the Excel file has been changed, refresh will not work.

Lydia

@arvindyadav,

Do you add new columns or new rows in the new Excel file? And do you want to refresh the data in Power BI Desktop or Power BI Service?

You can firstly drag the new Excel file with same name as old file to OneDrive for personal and replace the existing old file, if you want to refresh data in Power BI Desktop, just click Refresh button in Power BI Desktop, all the changes will be reflected in the PBIX file.

However, if you want to regularly refresh data in PBIX file, you can publish the PBIX file to Power BI Service, then set schedule refresh for your dataset. But please note that only data change will be reflected in Power BI Service, new columns will not be reflected.

Lydia

Hi @Anonymous,

I have drag the file with same name in ine one drive and delete the existing file but when I went to power bi service then It will show to me that you have delete your file or move from your one drive personal so that is the why refresh is not take place.

Arvind
