On-premises data gateway - DM_GWPipeline_UnknownError

I am evaluating PowerBI.

I have fresh install of On-premises data gateway and trying to add any data source (ODBC, file, SQL) isn't working.  The error is always the same.  Server 2016 fully patched gateway verison 14.16.6423.3.

How do I fix this?

Has any root cause for this problem been identified? I am still having this same error, and the only solution is still to unistall and reinstall the gateway software.
