On-premise data gateway exports no logs

Hello everyone,

I'm setting up an On-Premise Data Gateway on my Azure Virtual Desktop and encountering some issues. I'm using gateway version 3000.254.6 (January 2025).

What I Have Done:

  • Successfully installed the gateway.
  • The gateway appears online and ready.

The Problem:

Despite the installation completing successfully, I cannot connect to the gateway.
I attempted to troubleshoot using:

  1. Export Log Feature

    • No actual log file is generated.
    • The error suggests that the ODGLogs folder is missing on my desktop.
    • Creating the folder manually allows it to open after export, but no files appear inside.
  2. Test Connection (Diagnose)

    • Asks me to choose an application to open the file.
    • Notepad gives an error saying the file is missing.
    • Visual Studio Code displays the expected file name (GatewayPortsTestResultsDate...) but references a path:
      • %appdata%\Local\Microsoft\On-premise data gateway
    • This folder does not exist, and manually creating it does not resolve the issue.

Steps Taken:

  • Tried reinstalling the gateway, but the issue persists.

I’d appreciate any suggestions on how to resolve this. Thanks in advance!

Hi @wit4r7,

Thanks @Akash_Varuna for addressingg the issue.

Since the latest version may have issues, try installing the December 2024 version.

If you encounter the same issues with the December 2024 version, I suggest raising a support ticket.

Hi @wit4r7 , Couold you please try these

  • Check Permissions: Ensure installation and gateway service have admin rights, and the user has access to.

  • Clean Reinstall:

    • Uninstall the gateway and delete residual folders in  %appdata%\Local and Desktop.
    • Reinstall the latest gateway version.
  • Check Event Viewer: Check Applications and Services Logs > On-premises data gateway for errors.
If this post helped please do give a kudos and accept this as a solution
    Thanks In Advance

Thanks for the response.

I tried as suggested. Unfortunately, it didn't change anything.

I uninstalled and deleted the folders. I restarte the machine and installed the newest version from Microsofts website.

After setting it up, the event viewer shows:

It is still not possible to get a logfile out of it. Other events are not loged in the event viewer.

Any suggestions?
