On-Premise Gateway always 'turns off'

i am running PBI desktop on a local machine, i downloaded and installed on-premise gateway. i added a gateway and signed in to my account thru gateway and i can see it online, but when I click close, the gateway seems to 'tyurn off', meaning I constantly need to sign into it again, im not sure how the connection is supposed to work, i assumed i might see an icon in my windows taskbar ro something.  IS THIS SUPPOSED TO BE ON...???

@ilcaa72,

Yes. However, you don't have to sign into again. As long as the gateway service is running and you have added data source within gateway, you are able to refresh your datasets in Power BI Service.
