I am designing a new Dashboard with an Excel file on a server. I have installed On-Prem Gateway onto the server and Power BI Pro Shows it as "Online: You are good to go". Through the scheduling tab it shows that the Excel file is configured correctly. Then I add a new datasource I receive an error of "Invalid Connection Credentials" when I use "File" and full server name\file name for the file. I have tried the server credentials, my Power BI credentials and gateway credentials, but the file itself doesn't have credentials associated with it.
I am not sure the next step to resolve this issue and I am new to using gateways.

Ok so the next step is you need to make sure you have the correct gateway configuration. Check your project file and see what the list of data sources is. Its called "Data Source Settings" and can be found under the "Edit Queries". You need to make sure that each data source has an entry in your gateway. With the exception of cloud sources, every source has to be included for the data gateway to be valid.
Please make sure that you enter correct user name when adding Excel data source within gateway. The credential is same as that you use to sign in the computer. You can review the detailed steps in the following similar thread.

Everything uses credentials. Whenever a file is stored anywhere, it has permissions associated with it. When you set up the schedule, above it is an "Edit Credentials" section.
If your gateway is handling the credentials, you should see this:
If not, you might see "Edit Credentials" where you will need to log in with a user that has security access to that file/folder in the filepath.
Thanks for the response. I do see a "Data Source Credentials" link but it is grayed out. When I click on "Gateway Connections it says it is not Not Configured Correctly. I click on Actions and it shows my filename and "Add to Gateway". I tried to add the file to the gateway, but none of the credentials that I have work. Thanks for the help!
