OLE DB or ODBC Error Failed to retrieve data

Hi all,

I'm getting the following error when i refresh the dashboard whereas my colleague who took over the data source from my dashboard was able to refresh the dashboard fine.

Is it a network issue, can this be solved so that i can take over the dashboard?

Thanks in advance

Hi Sahasra,

ALL GL ACCTS data source is refreshed on other dashboards except for one, i have tried to duplicate the dashboard which i'm trying and refresh worked fine for the duplicate dashboard. I'm not sure why is it happening only to the particular one.

Hi @Deeksham,
Thanks for connecting with the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.

The "OLE DB or ODBC Error" typically occurs due to connectivity or configuration issues between Power BI and the data source. To resolve this, please follow the troubleshooting steps:

Ensure that your account has the same permissions as your colleagues on the data source.
check your connection settings (e.g., server name, database name, and credentials) to ensure they are correct and compare these settings with your colleagues to confirm they match.
Test your network connection to ensure it is stable. If possible, try refreshing the data on a different network.
Ensure your OLE DB or ODBC drivers are up to date if not download the latest version.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the error and refresh your dashboard successfully. If the issue persists or if you face any difficulties during these steps, please reach out, and we will be happy to assist further.

Hi Sahasra,
Thanks for getting back to me.
Other dashboards with same data source refresh works fine except for 2 dashboards, ODBC connection settings are same for all the dashboards.
My colleague was able to refresh the dashboard which i got error as well.

Hi @Deeksham,

As you mentioned you and your colleague have same data source and ODBC connection settings are same for all the dashboards here are the new points which you can check once.

  • Check whether the 'ALL GL ACCTS' table is available in the NetSuite and it has relevant data. There must be no removed, renamed, or modification on the columns.
  • Ensure your user account has the same access rights to the "ALL GL ACCTS" table as your colleague. Test your access by logging into the NetSuite database directly using a query tool.
  • Verify that your network connection is stable and free from interruptions. If using a VPN, make sure it is working properly, or try refreshing the dashboard without it.
  • Check that no firewall or security software is blocking your connection to the data source, as this could prevent a successful refresh.

Please Accept as solution If this post clears your issue and a Kudos would be appreciated.

Thankyou.
