New to Power Query – where should I start?
Hi everyone,
I’m new to Microsoft Fabric and Power BI and just starting to learn Power Query.
Can someone recommend:
- The best beginner topics to learn first?
- Any simple examples or tutorials?

Since you want to start from zero, it's better to go through YouTube videos. At the same time, you will learn about use cases and how to solve particular problems using Power Query.
Here are my go-to YouTube channels that took me from zero to actually being productive with Power Query:Get Idea about Power Query (Goodly):

Sairahul19 I think that Rick de Groot and Chandeep Chabra have great material on Power Query.

Seconding ChielFaber - Ben's primer is by far the best resource to really learn Power Query.

Welcome to the world of Power Query.
Here is a 3-step approach I recommend for new learners:
1. Learn the GUI: Focus on button-based solutions first.
2. Learn the Patterns: Master the common data scenarios you will face daily.
3. Learn the Code: Dive into M code only after you are comfortable with the basics.
If you like learning from books, I highly suggest starting with "Master Your Data with Excel and Power BI" by Ken Puls and Miguel Escobar. To understand data patterns, "Power Query Recipes" by Ken Puls is the perfect path.
After you have mastered those, you can pick up "Power Query: Beyond the User Interface" by Chandeep Chhabra.
