By my research, there is no detail document about how to use Default or Custom in odbc.
Normally, when connecting data, the authentication method we use should be the same as the authentication method you used when creating the DSN.
If you used the same authentication and still have issues, I'm afraid that issue may be related with your driver.
To get the further help, you'd better create a support ticket in power bi support team.
