Hi Guys,
So, what I'm trying to achieve here is an alternative solution to Data Warehousing.
Please tell me if this is achievable.
1) So, what I'm wondering is if there's a way to export rows from a Dynamics 365 entity to an excel spreadsheet in Sharepoint OR just a sharepoint list at a scheduled interval or whenever a new record is created in my selected entities. I might require Microsoft Flow to do this?
2) Connect Power BI to this excel spreadsheet or Sharepoint list and create my reports, then publish it as an app to share among colleagues. If I have got scheduled refreshes set up for the excel file or the sharepoint list, everyone would see the latest stuff happening, right?
Regards,
Hi @Anonymous
First question is beyond my specialty.
As searched, you could integrate between Dynamics 365 and SharePoint, but i'm not sure if it supports automatical creation or schedule refresh from Dynamics 365 to Sharepoint.
To get better answer, you need to ask in the Sharepoint or Dynamics 365 forums.
Second question:
when you configure schedule refresh for a dataset in Power BI Service, it would refresh and get the lastest data from data source.
But in your scenario, the data source is a excel file in sharepoint or a sharepoint list, so the lastest data is these data instead of the data inside Dynamics 365.
If question 1 is supported, that means the excel file in sharepoint or a sharepoint list synchronizes with Dynamics 365, then data after refreshing in Power BI would be the lastest data from Dynamics 365.
Additionally, which Dynamics 365 entity do you need to connect to?
In Power BI Desktop, there are some connectors which support for Dynamics 365.
there are some references how to intergration between Dynamic365 and Power BI
