MTD & QTD formula does not work when using time filter

Hi there, 

When using a MTD forumula, when I choose a prior and current time period, everything is fine, but when I go to 2023, unless I specifically go into trickle down to the exact month I am in with actual data, it gives me blank for MTD. 

The thing is I designed this report so it will continue to pop in 2023 data so the whole year is chosen. 

Many people use this report as is and I cant go in every new month and update it to reflect the new month simple to make those blanks dissapear nor do I want to instruct everyone to keep having to mess with the filter everymonth. 

Has anyone else encountered this issue.  Im using the typical MTD formula in powerbi called totalMTD.
