Local Error with refreshing data from CSV located in SharePoint

Hi together,

I have a problem with updating my queries since yesterday.

When I click on Refresh in PBI Desktop I get the following error message:
'the underlying connection was closed - an unexpected error occurred on a send'.

refreshing query errorrefreshing query error

The CSV files are located in SharePoint and are retrieved via WEB URL. Strangely, the problem occurs only with me. Other colleagues can still update the data. An update via the PBI service also works.

If I add the source file again, the query works again. However, I am then missing all my transformation and merging with other files.

Is there any known error like this? Can anyone help?

Best regards!

I have found out that it seems to be a network dependent problem.

In one network I get the error, in another with the same computer and the same PBIX file I do not.

Does anyone know this problem?

Best regards!

Hi @becko1001 ,

Here are some methods you can try and find if they can help you solve your problem:

  1. Go to the data source credential of this dataset and update your credential to avoid credential problems.
  2. If the data refresh still fails, you can download the report which is linked to the dataset as pbix file and open it on Power BI desktop, then click Refresh in desktop to see which detailed error message display.
  3. Then try to solve the problem according to the error message. If you still have a problem, please show us your connection method to SharePoint online(web connector or SharePoint list or service). Have you done some data transform operation in power query(merge, append queries)

Here are some issues similar to your problem, you can check if it’s useful:

Hi @pratyashasamal ,

thanks for your answer!

However, the problem occurs exclusively in PBI Desktop.

This eliminates methods 1 and 2 as possible solutions.

The error only occurs when I update the query in PBI Desktop. In the service I can update the dataset without problems. Also, the identical PBIX file works for a colleague, for example. Therefore, it must be a local problem.

I have several transformations in the query, however, I exclude them as a problem because 1.) it works at a colleague and 2.) there were no changes there.

Do you have any other ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @becko1001 ,
Please check the version of power bi that you are using .
Please try to updated the version of power bi once .
Thanks,
Pratyasha
