Keyword search - dealing with plurals when using List (not Text) matching

Hi, further to the post already resolved (see here https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Power-Query/Keyword-search-to-return-exact-word-match/m-p/723186#M24076 ), I would like to know if anyone has an approach for dealing with plurals for a keyword list?

Using the list approach rather than Text.ContainsAny is beneficial as it eliminates false matches, ie soft / software, but does not pick up where the relevant keyword is appropriately a part of a larger work, a plural being the most obvious occurance.

I am currently duplicating my keyword list and appending "s" to each one, thus loading a double set of keywords.  Am wondering if anyone has a more scientific approach for keyword matching using a keyword list.

Cheers

Phil

  • Hi PhilC ,

you can either transform the existing List to a list of plurals and append it to your original list.

A simple method would be this

    List.Transform(yourList, each _ & "s")

or you search for an API that delivers more accurate versions.
