Is Power Query changing significantly or at risk of being deprecated?

Hi everyone!

I’ve been hearing some comments lately about possible changes to Power Query, and it made me a bit unsure about the future direction of the tool.

Power Query is a big part of my daily work in Power BI Desktop, especially for data cleaning and transformation, so I wanted to ask the community.

Is there any official information from Microsoft about major changes, limitations, or deprecation plans related to Power Query?
Or is it expected to remain a core and stable component of Power BI going forward?

If anyone has insights, official links, or recent experiences to share, I’d really appreciate it.

Thanks!

@SavioFerraz I'm not sure where you heard that, but I haven't heard anything like that in any of the partner calls and genuinely doubt that. PowerQuery is an essential part of Power BI, Excel and Fabric (Dataflow Gen 1 + 2).

Even if they were to depreciate it anytime soon (which would surprise me very much) I doubt that they would do it very quickly due to the impact as mentioned above.

Hi @KarinSzilagyi ,

Thanks a lot for the clarification! That makes a lot of sense. I appreciate you taking the time to answer my question — it's reassuring to know that Power Query is still very much a core part of the ecosystem and unlikely to be deprecated soon.

I’ll definitely take that into account as I continue working with Power BI and Fabric.
