How to select data for a certain period, based on a table with 2 dropdowns "StartDate" and "EndDate"

I'm coming to this quite late and you've probably solved the problem. However, here goes...Let's say your data looks something like this - a performance rating is recorded for each employee, together with a date for that rating.
If this is how your data looks then you could use a slicer visual on "Date", setting the slicer style to "Between".
Which would look like this,
