How to refresh a data source pointed to a 2008 R2 SSAS Cube (not live connection)
- Anonymous9 years ago
Hi Anonymous,
When you have SSAS 2008R2, you won’t be able to connect to the server via the on-premises gateway. Just as the error message indicates, the gateway does not support the version of the specified data source.
Besides, if you host Excel file on SharePoint online, please note that on-premises gateway doesn't allow us to combine online data sources and on-premises data sources. This is a known issue that has been submitted in the following link and the feature that using on-premises gateway to work with online data sources is under review, please vote it.
In this scenario, you would need to use the personal gateway to schedule refresh for your dataset. However, if you want to use on-premises gateway to schedule refresh for your dataset, consider to upgrade SSAS 2008 R2 to SSAS 2012 or later, and host Excel file on on-premises SharePoint.
Thanks,
Lydia Zhang
