How can I build a Line Chart based on Planned an Actual dates?

Hi All!

I have table with 8 columns in it which contains an information about action items and their statuses in percentage.

How can I build a Line Chart visual to see planned dates vs actual dates?

For example, thats the data that I have to begin with:

Dep	AI#	AI Name	Planned Start	Actual Start	Planned End	Actual End	Status
Sales	AI1	A	5/1/2024	5/1/2024	7/7/2024	7/7/2024	100%
Training	AI2	B	3/1/2024	3/1/2024	12/31/2024	3/31/2024	16,50%
Procurement	AI3	C	8/1/2024		9/30/2024		0%
Training	AI4	D	9/21/2024		10/21/2024		0%
HR	AI5	F	7/28/2024		8/31/2024		0%
HR	AI6	G	7/22/2024		11/30/2024		25%

@Anonymous , You can follow below steps

Click on the Line chart icon in the Visualizations pane.
Configure the Line Chart:

Drag the Dep column to the Legend field to differentiate lines by department.
Drag the Planned Start and Actual Start columns to the X-axis field. This will create two separate lines for planned and actual start dates.
Drag the Planned End and Actual End columns to the X-axis field as well. This will add lines for planned and actual end dates.
Drag the AI Name column to the Values field to display the action item names.
Format the Line Chart:

Click on the Format pane (paint roller icon) to customize the appearance of your chart.
Under Data colors, you can assign different colors to the planned and actual dates for better visualization.
Adjust the X-axis and Y-axis settings to ensure the dates are displayed correctly.

Dear @bhanu_gautam ,

It doesn't work... All I get is two straight lines when I'd like to see rundown curve...

 

When I've added some quick measures to count actual and planned (I'm new user of DAX and probably doing something wrong) it shows more likable result, but still not rundown

Explain the reasons for choosing a line chart. Would using a matrix to model a Gantt chart be better for presenting data?

Hi @Anonymous ,

I'm not choosing line chart myself, it was requested from dashboard owner department) 

I've suggested different approach to this data, cause line chart is not suitable for it.
