Headers in a Matrix table - show the Month as Jan Feb etc not January February

I am using a matrix table to display a view with headers based on date hierachy. I want to show the Month as Jan Feb etc not January February etc. I know how to change formats in PowerQuery and Dax but this does not reflect in the display formatting in the table headers? Can it be done?

Yeah, we don't do that around here. Auto Date time is a nightmare masquerading as a convenience.  Switch to a proper Dates table structure.

Is this a date hierarchy from a single [Date] field or from separate year and month columns?

Format([Date],"mmm")  is the default approach.

It is date hierarchy from a single [Date] field
