  • Doesn't look like your gateway is setup correctly.  Remember that ping is note enough either, you need to tnc against the port.

Until you can fix your gateway you should continue to refresh in the Power BI Desktop and publish to the service.

Remember that ping is not enough, you need to tnc against the port.  Work with your IT team to request the port be opened in the firewall.

    Hi EricoVincentciu,

For the native SAP BW connection, a successful ping is not enough. The gateway machine must reach the correct SAP host and port, have the required SAP .NET Connector installed, and use valid credentials for the correct SAP client.

If the required data is available through SAP OData services, you may also consider Power BI Connector for SAP:

    https://www.sap.com/products/data-cloud/partners/metrica-software-inc-power-bi-connector-for-sap.html

For on-premises SAP, it uses SAP Cloud Connector and a BTP Destination and provides an OData endpoint that supports scheduled refresh. It would not fix the existing SAP BW gateway connection or connect directly to BEx queries.
