I’m experiencing an issue with an Excel file connected to Power BI. Using the same credentials, I can connect to the data source on some PCs, but on others, I receive the following error: “An error occurred while loading the dataset 'pbiazure://api.powerbi.com...’” (see attached screenshot).
I have already confirmed that the credentials are correct. What could be causing this issue, and how can I resolve it?
Hello,
This isn’t an account or credential issue; the access to the data model varies from one PC to another. I’ve verified that both the Excel account and license are correct, and I also checked the account through the “File -> Account” menu as suggested, but the issue persists only on certain devices.
Capito.
Hi @lorenzofarella ,
Gabry response was clear and here is what I need to add. The account you are using must have “Generate” permissions to the Power BI semantic model or at least a “Participant” role in the Power BI workspace that contains the semantic model. You must have a Fabric license: Fabric (Free Edition), Pro Edition, or Premium Per User (PPU) Edition license. Also, as Gabry mentions, you need to make sure that the logins are consistent.

Ciao Lorenzo,
looks like a credential issue. Have you checked if the excel account logged in has access to the datamodel? Also excel license? Also double check wich is the account logged into excel, from the file -> account menu. Not just from the top right menu
