Hi
I updated yesterday the personal gateway to the newest version. Since then, when I try to update a data set I get the message, that the personal gateway is offline.
My setup is, that I use a local MS SQL server (on my laptop). The datamodel is build in Power Pivot in an Excel sheet, that is on OneDrive. This setup has worked for months.
Another thing that has changed and might be relevant, is that usually I am being prompted for my Azure/sharepoint 365/PowerBI account credentials when I reboot my laptop, as part of the initiation of the gateway.
I have tried to
a) uninstall, reinstall several times including reboot.
b) remove files from both C:\ProgrmData\Microsoft\Data Transfer and C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Power BI Gateway - Personal
c) install personal gateway- usermode as per the explanation here:http://community.powerbi.com/t5/Integrations-with-Files-and/PowerBI-Personal-Gateway-install-error-S...
I am trying to push IT managers to adopt Powerbi. Currently I am showcasing it for them to provide update on project progress communication and this issue will prevent update of dahsboards and I will probably loose all the good will I have secured for the powerbi approach.
Any suggestions to help me solve this?
hi @nhoff,
What are you seeing on the Gateway itself? is it running on your machine?
Have you tried using the Enterpise Gateway, it should work for your scenario and more suitable for the company scenario you're trying to achieve. It supports both Direct Query and scheduled refresh for SQL Server.
Thanks,
Dimah
