Epicor Bistrack

Hi

 

I am trying to connect our ERP system Epicor Bistrack Production to Power BI. Does anyone know if this is possible and if it is what we need to do?

    Hi,

     

    Haven't heard about Epicor Bistrack Production - so I'm shooting in the dark here.

     

    IMO it definitely makes sense to have a BI front-end connected to an ERP. 

     

    Regarding HOW to integrate with your ERP, there are at least a few "popular" methods you could explore - not sure if they apply in your case as (again) I don't know Epicor:

    • Connect PowerBI directly to the database of the ERP - if you have access to the DB, you could figure out the table relations (using documentation or "exploration") and run SQL queries on that DB using PowerBI
    • Connect PowerBI to the ERP using a web API - IF your ERP offers a web API
    • Export csv or xlsx files from the ERP and connect PowerBI to those files - or better yet ingest those files in a separate "data wharehouse database" and connect to the latter using PowerBI

    Difficult to say without details.

    If you're hosted then you'll need to contact hosted support for a data connection if you're using power B.I. on your desktop.
