Dynamics 365 Online Data Connector

Are you running refresh in Power BI desktop?

 

Based on your description, it seems to be related to query folding. The query folding mechanism is primarily available in connectors for structured data sources. It will optimize the query steps so that some queries are done in the data source. This will speed up the data extraction, transformation and loading time.
