Dynamic Parameter not working using M query and slicer

Hi,

I have watched several videos on creating a dynamic M query using Direct Query and a parameter and then updating the parameter through a slicer in the front end.

Although I followed all steps, including binding the parameter to the slicer , when I select a value from the dropdown in the slicer , it still takes the original default value of the parameter instead of updating it.

What could be the reason for this and is there a workaround for this issue? I am using Oracle SQL database

Hi all,

same problem here. I did all the step mentioned on the page referenced by Jayee but it's not working. I have the latest version of PowerBI Desktop installed. Any other ideas what might be the reason?

Hi @biguglyoldman , had you solved the above issue? Could you please have a look at my current problem? Here you have the link https://community.fabric.microsoft.com/t5/Power-Query/Power-Query-Date-Parameter-Binding-to-my-Direc....

Thanks in advance.

Hi @Pbik88 ,

As per your description i am assuming that you missed Bind to Parameter step

please follow Microsoft article Dynamic M query parameters in Power BI Desktop - Power BI | Microsoft Learn
still you are facing the issue try install new version PBI Desktop from website download.

If this post helps, then please consider Accept it as the solution, Appreciate your Kudos!!
