Helper IDatasources PowerBI Premium On-premises vs Cloud
With all the buzz now on Power BI Premium I'm a little bit confused in possible datasources that you can connect to (with PBI Premium).
In my understanding if you buy the PowerBI Premium license you can set-up your PBI environment in 2 ways
A. In the CLOUD adressing some specific (v)cores in the cloud
B. On premises on local / your own hardware
With set-up A. you get your normal PBI but now with all the known datasources that you can connect to (so basically every possible common DB around)
But with set-up B. (on-prem) in the first release you can only connect to a MS SSAS model? (which in turn can connect to a variety of other data source) But..no other direct sources?? .even not CSV? Excel?

That seems very restricting! Is this really the case??
I think this part of the blog article sums it up:
"With this first release, you connect directly to an Analysis Services data model, which in turn can connect to a variety of other data sources, including SQL Server, Oracle, Teradata, and more. We aim to extend direct connectivity to the other Power BI Desktop data sources, targeting later this year."

"With this first release, you connect directly to an Analysis Services data model, which in turn can connect to a variety of other data sources, including SQL Server, Oracle, Teradata, and more. We aim to extend direct connectivity to the other Power BI Desktop data sources, targeting later this year."
