Dataflow Gen1 to Excel on Mac
I created a Dataflow Gen1 in Power BI Service(app.powerbi.com) and I want to bring that data into Excel on my Mac. I can do this on Windows, but not on Mac. Is there any way to solve this?
Hi! I have only ever used Windows with Power BI and Power BI features. From what I understand:
On Windows, Excel supports Power BI connectors like:
- Analyze in Excel
- Power Platform connectors (for Dataflows)
- ODC files and Power BI datasets
These features rely on Windows-only components, such as:
- Power BI Desktop integration
- Active Directory authentication
- COM-based add-ins
On Mac, Excel lacks support for these connectors due to:
- No Power BI Desktop
- No support for ODC files
- Limited Power Query capabilities
- No native Power BI connector in Excel for Mac
I did some digging and maybe you could try this? You can open Excel in the browser and use Power Automate to push data from your Dataflow into Excel stored in OneDrive or SharePoint. Microsoft provides a tutorial for this:
