In theory, maybe. See this link for supported data sources: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Supported-Data-Sources-and-Data-Types-cb69a30a-2225-451f-a9d0-59d24419782e
Since it supports Power Query, if you can connect to your Salesforce via Power Query with something like an OData feed or Salesforce Objects or Salesforce Reports, then maybe.
I say maybe because there are also supported authentication types buried in that link.
The new Power BI Preview connects to Salesforce, there is a content pack for it so you might want to start looking down that route as my understanding is that everything is headed that way.

The Gatway is required to connect to on premise data sources. You should be able to connect to Salesforce without the Gateway.

Hi parry2k As a workaround, maybe you can try to test your connection with a 3rd party connector, which pulls data directly from the SF objects API. I've tried windsor.ai, supermetrics and funnel.io. I stayed with windsor because it is much cheaper so just to let you know other options. In case you wonder, to make the connection first search for the Salesforce connector in the data sources list:
After that, just grant access to your Salesforce account using your credentials, then on preview and destination page you will see a preview of your Salesforce fields:
There just select the fields you need. It is also compatible with custom fields and custom objects, so you'll be able to export them through windsor. Finally, just select PBI as your data destination and finally just copy and paste the url on PBI --> Get Data --> Web --> Paste the url.
