Data Gateway Hardware Requirements Import

Hi Everyone,

I've a question regarding to the hardware specs for the data gateway. We will be using around 6 on premises data sources and only refresh them at night. Microsoft recommends CPU with 8 cores and 8GB Ram, but my IT manager said that that was quite a lot for the data gateway.

Now I have to research what we actually need and what that will cost.

If we only use import for our data sources at night, will 6GB RAM suffice? And can we lower the CPU specs?

For what I could find on the internet, Microsoft said; Better CPU -> better DirectQuery performance, More RAM -> Faster import performance.

Thanks,

  • Hi Anonymous ,

Based on the installation document, it had listed the requirements.

    Recommended:

    • 8 Core CPU
    • 8 GB Memory
    • 64-bit version of Windows 2012 R2 (or later)

If you use the lower CPU, I'm afraid that it will affect the performance of the gateway.

    Best  Regards,

    Cherry
