Data Gateway - All or Nothing?

Hello,

When an on-premise data gateway is used, is the entire Power Query mashup expression always sent to the gateway and processed by it—or can the Power BI Service "split" a mashup expression so that it only sends the on-premise-specifc portion to the gateway, while keeping and running the cloud-specifc portion just in the Power BI Service?

Thank you!

Hi @Ben-Dev ,

It's all or nothing. In combined cloud/on-prem queries, the entire query will be processed on the gateway, providing you have enabled "Allow user's cloud sources to refresh..." on your gateway settings.
