I have 3 checkboxes per case
Response missed
Restore missed
Resolve missed
I want to know how many may be checked per case. 0, 1, 2 or all 3 may be checked on any case

I followed your instructions, but mine isn't quite working like yours did, here's a screen shot. I would expect the highlighted count to be 2

Do you want to count columns? My method above is counting rows.
Is it because in the highlight, the values of the two columns are True, so 2 is returned?
If so, you could try adding custom columns to determine True and then return 1. And then sum them up.

You want to implement group counting in Power Query, right?
If so, I created a sample for trying to illustrate this solution.
Sample data:
Right-click "Case" and select "Group By...".
Set up as follows.
Click OK.
Expand the column you want.
