Connexion of database problem (web api)

Hello everybody,
I'm kinda new with power BI and I am facing a problem.
I use an API to collect some data. This one give me data that power Query get with :" Source = Web.Page(Web.Contents(..."
When I want to refresh the data, it work on the desktop version but not online (when i click on refresh on Power BI Desktop, it works, but not when I refresh the data on the published version online).

I'm facing this error (translated for french)

"Try again later or contact support. If you contact support, provide this information.
Data Source Error Scheduled refresh is disabled because at least one data source does not have credentials. To restart the refresh, go to the settings page for this dataset and enter credentials for all data sources. Then re-enable scheduled refresh."

I already checked the authentification menu of my data and it's "anonymous" access.

After these few tests, I admit that I need some help please.

Thanks by advance,

Hey how did you refresh in Power Service(Online)? Did you refresh the visuals in the report/dashboard? or you refresh the datasets?

    Hi Anonymous ,

On Power BI Service, you need to configure credentials for the dataset before it can be successfully refreshed.

For cloud data sources, you need to enter the credentials under Settings -> Data source credentials.

For local sources, you need to use the gateway to configure the credentials.

For more information, please refer to:

    Configure scheduled refresh

What is an on-premises data gateway?

Add or remove a gateway data source

If the problem is still not resolved, please provide detailed error information or the expected result you expect. Let me know immediately, looking forward to your reply.

      Hi v-kkf-msft ,
Thank you for your answer. Unfortunately, I didn't find (yet I hope) the solution to my problem.

I looked for in the links and explanation you gave, my incomprehension is due to the type of the dataset.
In fact, it is not on a cloud (the "data source credentials" is unavailable in settings) or on my computer (I tried the install a Gateway but It shows me a warning that say that the dataset must be on a computer always on).

In fact, I collect my data from denodo with (on Power BI Desktop (it works here), then published on Power BI Desktop) a URL of this format  : https://[...]?$format=json

Do you know how can I connect this kind of dataset on Power BI Service please ?

      Thanks by advance,

        Hi Anonymous ,

I haven't tried connecting to the denodo API. But I have connected to Powr BI Rest API, and when connecting to the data source using the Web connector, I need to configure the data source credentials using the gateway.

        • First enable "Allow user's cloud data sources to refresh through this gateway cluster. These cloud data sources do not need to be configured under this gateway cluster" in the gateway settings.
        • If your access token is included in the M code, then you need to Skip Test Connection when configuring.

There are specific steps in this thread, please check if it applies to your situation.
