Connection to database not returning current data in power query but does in MS Query

I have an excel SS that uses power query to provide a report with a connection to our accounting system.   We have a new employee and they have been set up with rights to the odbc connection.   However the user is unable to refresh the data.   There are three files that appear to not be refreshing in the query.    I did a test on a separate power query and one file is showing data (a summary file) but the detail file states there is no data to return.   I tested the same using file that returns no data in MS Query and the data was returned so I don't believe there is a rights issue.   It's only in power query that access to the file seems to be retricted or not updating.   I checked all the Excel settings and they match my set up.   I can run the refresh and the report works fine, but the new user cannot.  I thought about rewriting the report on the new users machine but since the data won't return current data (it seems to have frozen the data the last time I ran it) it wouldn't matter.   Do you know why the user cannot access some files in Power Query but can access them in MS Query?

Hi @AGray

What is the data source type of these files? How did the new user connect to these files in Power Query?

It may be due to the connection of the query. You can go to Data > Existing Connections to verify the connections in the current workbook. If a connection is not configured correctly, you can right click on the connection and click "Edit Connection Properties..." to configure it. Remember to verify the "Authentication Settings" in Definition tab.
