Connecting to Salesforce data using On-Premise Gateway

Would like to know if an On-Premise gateway can be configured to connect to Salesforce and allow auto refreshes of data.

Thanks!

Hi @Anonymous,

If your dataset only contains SalesForce data source, no gateway is required, you should find that Power BI Service connect directly to your SalesForce data source, after you edit the credential for your data source, you  are able to schedule the dataset to refresh daily or schedule it to refresh in different date time.

However, if your combine Salesforce data source and on-premises data sources in a single dataset, I don’t find an option for Salesforce data source under on-premises gateway, to refresh the dataset,  please install Power BI personal gateway and enter credentials for each data source after configuring personal gateway.

There is a similar thread for your reference.

Just to make sure I understand, if I have only SF in my dataset then no gateway is required at all? If I have SF+Excel in my dataset, then a personal gateway is required?

Thanks

Just to further clarify: In the case of mixed data sourcing modes (e.g. SFDC live vs Excel file), does this mean that a 'live' connection/dataset will not refresh unless you have an on-premise gateway for your local files? Or does this mean that the former (live) will still refresh, and only the local file will not update until you've got a gateway running?

Thanks in advance!
