Connect to DB with Gateway in Power BI

Hello.

I configured a gateway and it's showing under manage gateway options in powerBI app.

I already configured the Data Source and the test is working fine.

Now I want to import data from this data source/gateway to my power Bi online, so I can create reports.

I can't see any option to connect to this data source/gateway under Get Data -> Databases & more.

How can I connect to it?

The gateway is there merely to allow refresh after publishing. You should connect to the database by creating a report in the Power BI Desktop application. Your specific database won't show up as a menu item; you'll have to select SQL database as the data source and type in the name of the database.

Hi @SGR,

Adding to other post, in order to smooth the refresh process of your dataset in the future, please make sure server and database name completely match between Power BI Desktop and the data source within the on-premises data gateway.

In addition, you can follow the steps in this similar thread to connect to SQL Server database from Power BI Desktop.

Thanks,
