Collect Parameters to Use in API in Custom Data Connector

I have a Custom Data Connector that calls a Rest API.  I want the Connector to prompt for parameters that I can add to the API request.  I see how parameters are collected in the HelloWorldWithDocs example.   You define a type, HellowWorldType, that sets up 2 params "message" and "count" with some documentation (which I never see when I run this).   Then you pass the parameters to the HelloWorldImpl and create a table using the parameters.

Should I use the Value.ReplaceType to collect the parameters as in this example? Once I have the params I could add them to the API string and when I get the data and table created from the API call, I would return that from the "Impl" function.

Is this the recommended way to collect and add params to an API call?

I'm looking at this example: https://github.com/Microsoft/DataConnectors/tree/master/samples/HelloWorldWithDocs
