Change the excel workbook data source for the folder

Hi

I start my project with a single excel file and i'm building and adapt all in a power query.

And now i will have the same file every month, so instend i copy past for the bigger excel file, I want Power Bi to extract the database from a folder ( with all the excels fills) insted of a single Excel.

It's possible to do ?

Thank You

Hi @DAFONSO you need solution via parameter. Please find some of the link how to use this feature in Power query.

Hope this help

Thank you very much @some_bih

Fix my problem in other way, I will try to explain

1- I put all the excels files in a folder

2- Then i add the folder to my project

3- Then i go to the power query, press mouse right click, and go to "Advanced Editor"

4- I copy all between "Let" and "In" and close

5- I go to the file i want to replace my source and go to the same process, but instand copy, i paste between "Let" and "in"

6- Then a close and aplay, and for me work. I stay with all the work i made and power query and now i have my source in folder.

Thank you for the help !

Hi @DAFONSO I understand two different scenarios in your case: 1) you already did transformation, create reports etc and you want simple change source from Excel to folder or 2) you did not try possible featues from link - basically creating your power bi model from start.

I would suggest, that you try (simple backup your work) if you did not do already.

My situacion is case 1)

I try already go to on "Data source Definicion" and try to change there, but just let me change to another files, like pdf etc... And i want to change to Folder because i will recive reports every day and is easier to have on Folder to updtade alone.

Sorry if i don't can clarify my ideia the best way to understand.

Hi @some_bih thank you for try to help.

But my question is not that, i asked if is possible to change my database. Because I have now on multiple excels files, and that excel files have many power query work and i don't want to lose it.

My question is change the origin of the database to a folder, so i can update my project every day more simplify way.
