Can't edit applied steps in Power Query Online (Dataflow)
Hi all,
I am facing an issue during the Dataflow creation process. I am currently working with SAP BW as a Data Source.
I used to work directly in Power BI Desktop where I had no issues but my customer decided to switch to Dataflows.
The problem is that I want to edit the step where I added data to add more fields to the dataset itself. To achieve this, in Power Query in PBI Desktop i clicked on the gear icon next to the appropriate applied step:
Switching to Dataflows, in Power Query Online I don't find this option anymore:
It looks like the Dataflow step is locked.
I still can perform the edit using the advanced editor but it is a bit tricky because I have to use the technical names associated to the fields by SAP BW. I did not find anything useful in the Microsoft Documentation.
Can someone help?

I don't know if you are familiar with BEx queries, but to access a field using M code you have to use SAP technical names which are a sequence of numbers and letters, so not very user friendly. The Power Query GUI handles this for me.

In the Power Query Online interface shown, the SAP BW Added Items step cannot be reopened through the same dialog available in Power BI Desktop, so editing the M code is the practical workaround.
If the data is also exposed through compatible SAP OData services, you may evaluate Power BI Connector for SAP:
It lets you select OData entities and fields before connecting Power BI. It does not edit BEx queries, and SAP BW compatibility must be verified.
