Can I refresh a query based on Active Directory Data

I am pulling in some query log data into Power BI from an SQL table.  I'm also using the Active Directory datasource to get additional data related to the user (department etc) which works nicely in Power BI.

When I upload into the service the data from the SQL table refreshes but not the Active Directory.  There are settings for Windows/Basic credentials but nothing seems to work.

Should I be able to refresh the AD data via either the Personal or Enterprise gateway?

Phil

Phil_Seamark Below is image of available data source in enterprise gateway. AD isn't there.

If you have used AD from powerbi desktop as data source and published to powerbi.com you can use personal gateway for refresh. However once personal gateeway is installed in your machine, in powerbi.com to your dataset go to refresh now, Data Source Credentials choose windows / basic based on your setup and it should work.

I tried that and it doesn't work.  I have access to both the Enterprise and Personal gateways.

I use my Windows credentials (with and without the domainname) for both the basic and windows options.  Neither work.

Perhaps this dataset cannot be refreshed yet.

So on theory it should work with personal gateway but is it throwing any error when doing refresh? I also can't seem to refresh but for me I think it is the account that I have supplied which probably has limited access on AD. Have you tried with account that has full access to all OUs and others.
